2011—Another Year of Amazing Change Ahead
2011 promises to be another year of change among the people of Haiti. Our prayers are that God will continue to amaze us in wonderful ways as He transforms Haitian hearts and lives with Gospel of Jesus Christ. Key projects for the remainder of 2011 include; the new restaurant project, the Harvest of Hope agriculture project, the micro-finance initiative, and a proposed radio station. This issue features some updates on where two of these projects stand. Your continued partnership with us is crucial for these to be completed.
Restaurant Project Now a Go in Croix-de-Bouquets
Thanks to some generous year-end giving, the Reformation Hope board recently approved the funding of Pastor Paul’s restaurant project in the nearby community of Croix-de-Bouquets. The expected total project cost is $55,000. We give thanks to God that $25,000 has already been provided for the work to go forward. Additional funds will be made available in the weeks ahead.
Just as in the real estate business, the key to having a successful restaurant is “Location! Location! Location!” Our brother Jean has obtained the lease on a property directly facing the main town square in Croix-de-Bouquets. Nearby this location are the police headquarters, mayor’s office, UN offices, and numerous banks and other businesses. Currently, the town does not have a single sit-down, full service restaurant.
The planned grand opening is during the Easter week in April. Once it is fully operational, the restaurant will employ 20 Haitian men and women, providing them with a living wage and excellent working conditions. We are trusting that Jean’s carefully selected staff will serve this community in such a way as to testify to the power of the Gospel. And we are trusting the Lord that this business will be financially successful, becoming just the first of many such enterprises to follow!

Irrigation CAMP H.A.I.T.I. Project Moving Forward
Our new ministry partner, Irrigation Without Borders, is moving ahead with fundraising and development planning for their vision to install a high-capacity irrigation system as part of our Harvest of Hope agriculture project in Haiti. While there may be some delays on the Haitian end, as we await the results of the current presidential election processes, labor continues here in the United States.
By this time next year, Lord willing, our children will be harvesting their own fresh fruits and vegetables and enjoying the blessings of a richer, healthier diet. We also envision the huge economic and family impacts this project will have for those Haitians who are employed on the farm and those who are allocated individual plots for micro-finance businesses.
