Reformation Hope E-Report
January 2015

With this issue of the Reformation Hope E-Report we introduce you to some of the people who have been impacted by, and who partner with, our ministries in Haiti.

Meet a Bible College Student: Pastor Danny

Pastor DannyThis month, our Bible college students participated in an intensive class on the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Professor Martin Hawley taught the class, which included the exercise of having the students work in groups and making presentations to their classmates. One of the students is Pastor Danicien Dossous, known affectionately by his classmates as Pastor Danny.

Danny pastors L'Eglise du Seigneur—The Church of the Lord—in Croix-des-Bouquets. (Photo below.) This church celebrated its third anniversary in January with a special service of worship and a fellowship meal. The Church of the Lord began as a Church of God congregation and was receiving support from relatives living in Florida. The young church was promised enough support to begin the process of buying land and building a facility. However, Pastor Danny began to embrace the Reformed faith and its emphasis on the Scriptures as the basis for faith and life. Since he has been studying at the Bible college, the church has moved toward Presbyterianism, and, as a result, all of the congregation's previous support has been withdrawn. The Church of the Lord is now renting a small space in a school's courtyard and packing their 150 members underneath the school's pavilion to avoid the scorching sun. Pastor Danny is one of our best students and excited about the Reformed faith. He is praying that the Lord will provide his congregation with the funds to build a pavilion or to buy a large tent which they can erect on the new plot of land they have been making payments to buy this year.

We asked Pastor Danny to share with you what the Bible college has meant to him:

"The school is important to me because I come to know much truth; how we baptize and how to worship. The school teaches me how to study the Word as I prepare my messages (sermons). I enjoy the work of the school very much."

God is doing mighty things in the lives and through the ministries of our Bible college students!

Jacky PhilidorMeet Our Orphanage and Orphan Sponsorship Director in Haiti: Jacky Philidor

In January, Jacky Philidor was named as the director for our orphanage as well as the orphan sponsorship director in Haiti. Jacky is a long-time associate of Pastor Jean Paul and will be coordinating his work with our U.S. orphan sponsorship director, Kelley Sangrey. Jacky's duties involve management of the staff that work with the children on a daily basis and those who provide the meals, laundry, cleaning, security, and maintenance.

We have also tasked Jacky with facilitating the flow of information about our children to our U.S. team and the children's sponsors, as well as enabling communication between sponsors and the Haitian boys and girls they sponsor. The expansion of Jacky's responsibilities is in keeping with our long-term goal to free Pastor Jean Paul from a grueling workload and to develop an effective Haitian management team under Jean's leadership.

Pastor DanielMeet Our New Vo-Tech School Administrator: Pastor Daniel

Not to be confused with Pastor Danny, Pastor Daniel has been selected to take over the day-to-day operations and the improvement of our vo-tech school in Marin, Haiti. Pastor Daniel comes to us with a long and distinguished record of managing three previous vocation-technical colleges in Haiti. He holds numerous certifications and came to Jean Paul with extremely good references. Besides his credentials as an education administrator, Pastor Daniel is a working minister, and now preaches in the Sunday morning rotation at Jean Paul's main church. Our prayer is that God will use Daniel to bring stability, growth, and success to our effort to improve and enlarge or vo-tech school.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:4–7
