children on foundationGroundbreaking Event for New Orphanage In Haiti Is June 27th

We are excited to announce that on Saturday, June 27th, we will celebrate the groundbreaking for construction of our new orphanage in Haiti. Representatives from the leadership of Souls Winning Ministries, local community leaders, and representatives from Reformation Hope will ceremonially begin the work of preparing the building site in La Plaine. This first phase includes excavation to a depth of six feet, sub-foundation work composed of rock, concrete, and rebar, rising to ground level, and then a raised foundation extending four feet above the surface. Work will include both the boys and the girls dormitory buildings, as well as the dining hall and common area. Work will proceed in stages from the excavation to final roofing, wiring, and grounds landscaping, as funding continues. The new facility will allow us to increase the children we provide for from 63 to 100.

Why Should I Give Ref Hope My Hard Earned Money?

In one word—accountability. Reformation Hope has always been a good steward of the donations received for the ministry in Haiti. And while some of the bigger nonprofits are under fire for their use of funds, Ref Hope's overhead expenses have averaged under 6% of the total over the last five years. At least 94% of your donations go to kingdom work in Haiti: providing schooling, food and housing for orphans; building facilities for worship, education, housing and medical treatment; and, employment in medical, construction and food service sectors, just to mention a few of the many projects impacting the individuals and communities we serve. Why Build a New Orphanage at this Time?

Many of our faithful partners have asked, "We gave to save the old orphanage 18 months ago and you have also upgraded the existing facilities for the children. Why are you building another orphanage now?" In short, the Haitian government agency in charge of overseeing the country's many orphanages has adopted new international standards for such facilities. These require a certain amount of square foot of space per child, as well as housing boys and girls in entirely separate buildings, and not just separate floors. We cannot meet either of these requirements through modifying our existing orphanage.

The Haitian social services agency has given Souls Winning Ministries three months to begin construction on the new orphanage, or it will force Jean Paul to close the current facility and revoke his permit to operate an orphanage. This is unacceptable both to the Souls Winning team and to all of us at Reformation Hope. And so, with the help of some very faithful donors, we are beginning phase one of the construction at the end of this month. May the Lord bless this project and in so doing continue to nurture and sustain the children under our care.

What About the Old Orphanage We Saved 18 Months Ago?

Part of the older facility will be converted from an orphanage to a part of our growing vocational technical school. The primary school will continue to operate as before in the same place. And other areas will be used by the large church currently worshipping at the site under Pastor Jean Paul. Improvements previously made at the old orphanage will continue to benefit the church congregation, the primary school, and the vo-tech.

By God's grace and provision, we are moving ahead with this project, as time is very much of the essence. We have a Haitian government-imposed deadline to start this work and then must to see it to ultimate completion. Now is the time to step up and partner with us to lay the foundation for a new generation of Haitians, rescued from the terrors of the streets, shown the love of Christ, and receiving the care and preparation they need to transform their country. You have sustained them in a good home, but now it is time for an even better place to be prepared in which they and many others to come may find a Christ-centered haven and covenant family home. Please give. Help us turn rocks, steel, concrete, and building blocks into a place of safety and beauty for our Haitian children.

one block campaignFor a donation of just $50, you will place one block into the future new orphanage. $500 installs 10 blocks, and so on. All donors of $50 or more will have their names included in a registry to be displayed along the hallways of the new facility.

Invest in this vital work today! We will keep you posted in the coming months as this new orphanage rises from the first shovel turned to its first opening day.

Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. Luke 6:47 – 48
