2015 ParadeReformation Hope and Souls Winning Celebrate Fifth Anniversary of Quake Rebuilding

At the end of June, more than one thousand Haitians connected to Souls Winning Ministries and the Presbyterian Church in La Plaine gathered together with representatives of Reformation Hope, as well as other Haitian churches, in order to celebrate the grace, provision, and goodness of God at the fifth anniversary of the opening of the rebuild compound following the devastating 2010 earthquake. Many thanks to those faithful financial partners who made it possible for some 1,500 Haitians to enjoy a full chicken dinner after the parade and the service of worship.

New Orphanage Construction Now Under Way!

We are excited to report this month that construction has finally begun on our new orphanage. Following a ceremonial groundbreaking, featuring Pastor Jean Paul, the children of the orphanage, and some of our Haitian Scouts, the construction crew began excavation work for the foundation. Building the new home for our children may take up to one year, as we will complete the construction in stages as funds are generously provided. Thanks to two substantial donors and a matching challenge, it is likely we will have half of the needed construction finances in place soon. Please continue to pray for this new home for our orphans, which we are calling the New Joy House. Funds are still needed to put us over the top in completing this project, increasing the number of children we can take in and share the love of Christ with, while greatly improving the quality of life we can offer all of our boys and girls. Please give today at reformationhope.org.

First Bible College Class Only One Year From Graduation!

Our Bible College classes in July include; The Gospels; Worship; and Marriage and Living in Unity. All twenty students are progressing well in their studies, with only three of them needing to make up for one missed course or major exam. Rev. Ted Lester, vice-chairman of the board of Reformation Hope, just finished teaching our students the Gospels of the Lord Jesus. At this stage, they are halfway through the 100+ hour curriculum and should be finished with their Bachelor of Divinity requirements by the end of next July. All of us are looking forward to the first graduation ceremony. Truly what a day of rejoicing that will be for the people of God in Haiti.

We'd like to share with you another life story from one of our students, so that you can see the impact the Bible College is having on these young men:

My name is Charlot Lewis. I am married and have two children. Almost three years ago, while I was a student, Pastor Jean Paul took us to Jacmel where we were supposed to preach a crusade and teach a Bible seminar. We did that for three days and three nights, and more than two hundred people accepted Christ. More than one hundred of those who came to the crusade decided to leave their former churches and we simply had to plant a church in the area. The people were constantly calling on us to do so. Pastor Paul did not know what to do other than to pray. It was then that I felt that God was calling me to His vine and I volunteered myself to stay in Jacmel. Since then, I am serving in Jacmel with my family for the Lord and His kingdom. It has been very challenging, especially since we do not have a piece of land yet where we may gather to worship. The owners of the place where we are meeting right now have asked us to leave. But we can always put our trust in Jesus because he always provides for His people. I thank God for this Bible school, because it is equipping me to serve the people of this new church in Jacmel. I enjoy my classes and the professors. There is a lot of reading, writing, and exams, but by God's grace, I am doing very well in my studies so far. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to become well-trained in the Bible and our faith. Please pray for me that I will finish my studies well and that I will be faithful to King Jesus in the work of ministry in Jacmel.
