JeantyThe Impact of Your Support:
A Testimony from Bible College Student Jony Jeanty

"I have been an orphan since I was very young. My godfather was taking care of me, for he wanted me to take care of his business. I did not know God, but one day, Mr. Claude saw me and started to talk to me about Jesus. While he was talking to me, I said "yes' to Jesus. No one in my family is Christian. In fact, my godfather is a devil worshiper. He wanted me to do things that have to do with worshiping the devil, and I told him, "No more. I belong to Jesus now." I was put out on the street for refusing to follow my godfather's evil ways. [Jony's godfather is a Voodoo priest.]

Mr. Claude took me to his home. From there I then met with pastor Jean Paul, I was baptized, and I became a student in his leadership discipling program. I always wanted to go back to the northwest of Haiti to preach to the people I know there about Jesus. Thank God, now with the Académie Théologique de la Réforme, I will have the knowledge to do what Jesus has called me to do."

Jony represents but one of twenty stories of young men's lives being transformed by the power of the Gospel and the biblical teaching and discipling offered by our Bible College (Académie Théologique). Jony is a good student who has worked hard to earn As and Bs in his classes. He and his fellow students plan to graduate at the end of next summer. And then by God's grace we will begin working with a new class of an additional twenty students. With your continued partnership in the work of teaching, training, and discipling young men to become the next generation of faithful Bible preachers, the Good News of Jesus Christ will be proclaimed far and wide among the people of Haiti.

Work Progressing Rapidly on the New Orphanage Buildings' Foundations

Many of you have already given to our Building Haiti's Future campaign, and so we wanted to give you an update on the tremendous progress on the initial building phase of constructing the strong foundation for the new orphanage. We began work on the New Joy House orphanage at the beginning of July, using the building plan kindly prepared and donated by Perry Poyner, principle of Alley•Poyner•Macchietto Architects in Omaha, Nebraska.

What has been accomplished so far includes the application and approval of building permits, survey for the buildings' locations, and excavation of the sub-foundations for the buildings. Materials such as steel rebar, rock, sand, gravel, and other needed items have been purchased and delivered to the construction site. And we are now in the process of creating the sub-foundations inside the excavated trenches. You can see some of this work in the photos we have received from the work site.

We are now in need of funds to take this project to the next stage, which is to complete the upper foundation (four feet above ground level) and begin the task of building the children's dorm houses. Much of the concrete block has already been produced by our block-making business for use in the orphanage buildings, but we need your help to pay for the labor to put these blocks together into new homes for our children.

Medical Clinic Container Shipment to Haiti Still Accepting Donations

We previously reported to you that we are in process of loading a shipping container full of supplies for our medical clinic and for the new orphanage, which is expected to leave for Haiti the end of August. There is still time if you or your church group would like to put together much-needed supplies or furnishings for the clinic or the New Joy House orphanage. Please contact executive director Martin Hawley at rev.hawley@gmail.com or 404-771-9180 if you are interested in helping out. A list of ministry needs can be found here.
