Jacmel Bible Students Receive New Ligonier French Language Study Bibles

The Bachelor of Divinity students at the Reformation Bible College in Jacmel received brand new French language Reformation Study Bibles in February as the result of the efforts of Humphrey Dobson and Ligonier Ministries in Florida. This is a very significant step forward in Reformation Hope and Teaching Missions International’s efforts to facilitate high level training and more powerful biblical and exegetical resources for our Haitian pastor partners. For many years, Rev. Jean Paul and Reformation Hope relied upon the Louis Segond French translation of the Holy Bible as the most faithfully available version for the Bible college students and pastors. Yet the printed editions available did not have exhaustive cross references or theological notes and explanations in the margins. And so, these new Ligonier French Reformation Study Bibles constitute the first time that an evangelical French translation Bible has been available for Haitians that includes extensive cross-reference helps, book introductions, maps, and many notes and references derived from Reformed and biblical theology.

The English Standard Version (ESV) translation Reformation Study Bible has been and continues to be an essential working Bible for Reformed and Presbyterian pastors in the English-speaking world since its introduction more than twenty years ago. And thanks to the gracious support of Ligonier Ministries of Reformation Hope’s education and development efforts for Haitian theological students and pastors, this marvelous biblical sermon and teaching resource is not available in one of the heart languages used and understood in Haiti. The Reformation Study Bible is the ideal resource and the essential foundation for strengthening the training and deepening the teaching and preaching of these young men, as they are supported through the ongoing partnership between Reformation Hope, Teaching Missions International (TMI), and the Miami International Theological Seminary (MINTS).
