Tragic News Concerning Rev. Jean Jacob Paul

Tragic News Concerning Rev. Jean Jacob Paul

The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 4:5b–7

We wanted you, our faithful supporters, prayer warriors, and volunteers, to know that our dear brother in Christ, Pastor Jean Paul, was shot and killed yesterday while in a vehicle in Haiti. Initial reports indicate that this was a targeted attack, as he was the only person shot among those riding in the vehicle. Obviously, this is sudden and devastating news to us and to all of the Haitian men, women, and children that our brother so faithfully worked with over the past 17 years. We want you to know that at this stage, Reformation Hope plans to continue and to further Jean Paul’s vision for Gospel transformation in Haiti. Pastor Jean drafted a plan for the continued management of Souls Winning Ministries, in the event that something like this might happen. We will be putting that plan into effect right away in coordination with Souls Winning Ministries as our board meets this Friday.
Our most urgent concern at this stage is twofold. First of all, the children and staff of our orphanage and the medical team at the clinic will need our monthly support in order to continue in this kingdom work and for real transformation in Haiti. Secondly, and perhaps most immediately, we are concerned for Jean Paul’s family and the expenses they now suddenly face for transportation, funeral, and burial expenses. We are asking that you, our faithful partners, continue your monthly support and also that you consider a one-time gift in support of Jean Paul’s family to help them during this difficult time. We plan to provide more details and a memorial for our brother Jean in our full August Reformation Hope newsletter, which will be sent out next week.
