Reformation Hope’s executive director, Rev. Martin Hawley, was in Haiti this month to attend and record the meeting of pastors and elders from eight Haitian churches from around the island. Here are some of his reflections:

The January gathering of Haitian church leaders was the third I have been privileged to attend. The brothers began their times together with worship and a sermon or devotional. Then much time was spent laboring over their new Book of Church Order. Later this spring, they will be meeting in order to finalize their Directory for Public Worship. Everyone prays that by September of this year, the new Presbyterian Church in Haiti will formally be organized as a presbytery composed of eight churches from Gonaïves, Jacmel, La Plaine, and La Gonave. Other Haitian churches will be able to petition the new presbytery to be mentored and then examined for membership. As God blesses, and the number and geographical distribution of churches increases, there will also be additional presbyteries created. It has been such a joy to see such united kingdom teamwork between these widely dispersed Haitian churches, as well as the PCA, and the OPC in their roles as advisors and resources throughout this process.

As Reformation Hope and our Haitian partner, Souls Winning Ministries, look forward in 2019, we are both encouraged by the significant opportunities which God has placed before us, and also overwhelmed by the added financial burden that this new year brings as well. Pastor Paul now cares for 76 children at the New Joy House. The medical clinic nows sees 50 or more patients per week. The new Covenant Christian Academy not only educates our orphans, but also teaches many students from the local community. Both the congregations in Jacmel and in La Gonave have substantial financial needs resulting from the lack of facilities at the present time. We truly do need your help this month and throughout this year which lies before us, in order to sustain our many ministries and in order to move both the church plants in Jacmel and La Gonave forward. Please consider investing in our kingdom work and partnership with our Haitian brothers and sisters for the Gospel in their land. There are many approaches to investing in the work in Haiti. Orphan sponsorships are available at an $80 level per month. We also accept designated gifts to further the church planting efforts in either Jacmel or La Gonave. Our microfinance effort is advanced as individuals provide start-up funds for micro-loans. And of course, support of any amount is very much appreciated. Investments can be made through our Easy Tithe or PayPal links, or by mailing a check to our secure address: Reformation Hope, Inc., 12195 Hwy 92, Suite 114-317, Woodstock, GA 30188.
